Transitional Kindergarten (TK)

Posted on

We offer a Transitional Kindergarten (TK) class for children aged four by or before September 1st. The TK class is limited to 12 students and is overseen by Mrs. Jennifer Silberschlag, lead TK teacher, and by Ms. Laura Sanders, master teacher for our Kindergarten program.

Program Overview and Schedule Registration Form

With more than ten years of early-childhood and elementary teaching experience, Mrs. Silberschlag has been the recipient of a number of recognitions and awards for excellence in teaching, including as finalist for the prestigious Evelyn Jay Excellence in Education award and as the recipient of the Rodel Foundation Exemplary Teacher award. Jennifer Silberschlag earned her B.A. degree magna cum laude in elementary education from the University of Arizona and her master’s degree summa cum laude in early childhood education with a specialization in reading instruction from Northern Arizona University. She is the proud mom as well of two St. Michael’s Lower School students.

Under the guidance of Ms. Silberschlag, the TK class at St. Michael’s will serve as a bridge between preschool and elementary school, offering an extra year to acquire Kindergarten readiness. This program will provide age-appropriate, developmental instruction in a caring and structured environment, including our ‘specials’ classes for physical education, art and music, Spanish language, and science.

The class is offered as a full-day program, Monday through Friday, with a flexible morning starting time and a flexible afternoon end time.
