When applying to St. Michael's, follow the six steps outlined below.
Step One: Obtain and Submit an Admissions Packet
You may download the 2010 admissions materials—which include information about our school, our curriculum, and all necessary admission forms—by clicking here, or you may request a packet to be mailed by contacting the administrative coordinator at (520) 722-8478 or school@stmichael.net.
Step Two: Attend the Admissions Open House
Open Houses offer the best opportunity to learn about the school and its programs, meet faculty and students, tour the campus, and receive details about the admissions process and financial aid. Our Elementary Open House is scheduled for Saturday, January 22, at 9:00 a.m. The date for Middle School Open House has not yet been determined, but information will be posted here.
Step Three: Visit the School
Full campus tours are available Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Contact Jim Franks, Director of Admissions, at admissions@stmichael.net or call (520) 722-8478 ext. 259. You are also invited to visit St. Michael’s while school is in session. Parents may also observe a classroom by appointment, beginning in January. Step Four: Sign Up for Required Testing
In order to sign up for the required admissions testing, you must submit an application and the $75 non-refundable application fee. All forms are available from the school office or downloaded here. Students applying for Kindergarten will take part in a 45-minute, small-group readiness evaluation. Students applying for grades 1-8 will complete an excerpt of the Stanford Achievement Test, a writing sample, a group interaction activity, and a visual literacy assessment. Admission testing for the current school year, 2010-2011, may be arranged by calling 722-8478. Regular testing for the 2011-2012 school year will be on Saturday, January 29 and Saturday, February 5, 2011.
Step Five: Arrange for a Teacher Recommendation
Please have a current teacher complete the Teacher Recommendation Form, which can be downloaded here and returned by the teacher directly to St. Michael’s. If your child is applying to Kindergarten, this form should be submitted only if your child has attended preschool. If your child is entering seventh or eighth grade, please be sure that you provide at least one recommendation from a current teacher in a core academic subject. More than one recommendation may be submitted. For the teacher’s convenience, please provide the teacher with a stamped envelope addressed to St. Michael’s School, Admissions, 602 N. Wilmot Road, Tucson, AZ 85711.
Step Six: Arrange for School Records to be Sent
Please have your child’s transcript or most recent report card (except for Kindergarten applicants) sent directly to St. Michael’s by the date of testing.
